After reading the last article in Zombies Are Us I started thinking about Zombies Anonymous using themes of discrimination and inequality among zombies and the living. The idea that the zombie could be a victim is something I have not thought about until this reading. What if zombies were not always to be feared but were a minority of society that was treated as unequal?
Giving this more thought I stumbled across a youtube clip of people being dressed up as zombies and walking around NYC, the reactions they get are pretty funny but also telling. Here is the clip.
If this type of zombie existed, where they were different functional members of society, there were zombie human relationships, zombie preformed everyday jobs and could complete a 12 step program that could help them get rid of their addiction to human flesh. What would that look like? I imagine new legislation would be passed about zombies, people standing up for zombie rights and others who would always view zombies as a bad thing, something that will always be separate from society. Below is an example I found of a zombie right protest if zombie existed as Zombie Anonymous creates them.

We are a distinct group set out to make sure the living dead get the same rights, wages, and treatment as the regular living. The woman to the right has been trying for over fifteen years to try and find employment, but so far has had no avail. She, among many other walking dead, have trouble finding something as simple as employment to sustain their needs. Please, help these poor people get a home, a bowl of food, and a warm grave for the night. Or, at the very least, create a global holocaust of these decaying martyrs.

What do you guys think? Could zombies live equally among the living? If so what would that world look like?
