There is a theatre in Edinburgh Scotland that is offering an interactive zombie scenario for the audience. Beginning tomorrow and lasting for three days the quiet theatre Summerhall will be home to zombies, soldiers, scientists and anyone willing to give it their best shot to save all of Edinburgh. At the beginning of the experience the actors (zombies and soldiers) will explain to the audience what their task is and divide them up into six groups or colonies. These groups will continue throughout Summerhall accompanied by a few guards and have to find real scientists along the way. The scientists are actually scientists and not actors so they will work with the audience to explain any questions or concerns about the zombies. Each group will also have a very different and unique experience as they travel throughout the theatre. At the end the groups will reconvene and try to decide on a plan for saving Edinburgh.
I think that this would be a really cool theatre to experience. First it would be hands on zombie action in which you could test all your knowledge and put it to use in more that just a choose your own adventure book. Which would hopefully bring out some of the fears that we talk about when your in a situation like this. It could definitely teach you a lot about other people behaviors as well. It would also be really awesome to see what the scientists have to say about what is going and how they would react to situations like this. At the end of the whole experience all the teams must meet up and discuss what their plan should be. It would be really interesting to go through this with a few of your friends and see what they have to say at the end, whether it be finding a cure or destroying the city. I don't think that I am going to be in Scotland anytime soon but I would bet that something like this comes to the States soon enough. We have already seen how widespread zombies have become in pop-culture, and the Walking Dead is continuing to play a large part on this. I could easily see a theatre in New York City offering some type of interactive zombie apocalypse venue like this.
